Schedule:
Full-time, 40 hours/week. Shift coverage includes days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
About the Role
You’ll support U.S. military Veterans in a structured residential rehabilitation and recovery setting. This is not a sit-behind-a-desk job. You will be active on the unit, monitoring safety, supporting daily routines, documenting behavior, and assisting clinical staff.
What You’ll Do:
- Monitor and support Veterans in a residential behavioral health / substance recovery program.
- Observe and report changes in mood, behavior, safety risk, or medical status to nursing/clinical staff.
- Assist with patient check-ins, movement/escorts within the facility, and accountability counts.
- Support therapeutic, recreational, and recovery-focused programming.
- Encourage adherence to program rules and treatment plans.
- Complete clear, accurate daily documentation and incident reports.
- Assist with crisis response under direction of licensed clinical or medical staff.
- Protect patient privacy and follow HIPAA at all times.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (required).
- At least 1 year of experience in ANY of the following: mental health, residential treatment, substance use recovery, corrections, inpatient psych, group home, or similar supervised environment (required).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain before start (required). ACLS a plus.
- Must pass background screening, drug screening, and meet federal immunization requirements (TB, flu, etc.).
- Strong communication skills, calm under pressure, reliable attendance.
Preferred but not required
- Coursework (12+ credit hours) in psychology, social work, counseling, human services, or related area.
- Prior VA, hospital, detox, rehab, or corrections experience.
- Familiarity with de-escalation techniques.
Shifts Available
- Day Shift (approx. 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
- Evening Shift (approx. 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM)
- Night Shift (approx. 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM)
- Weekend and holiday coverage required on a rotating basis.
Compensation
- Target hourly rate: $18 – $22/hr depending on experience and shift.
